Q: How do I join?
A: You can join online, then select your region, choose one of our great value memberships and complete the online joining process. If you’d like to chat through our membership packages with us then you can contact the centre or pop in talk to a member of the team.
Q: Do I have to sign-up to a 12-month contract?
A: You can choose to pay-as-you-go, opt for an uncommitted membership, or take out one of our great value membership contracts on a 12-month commitment.
Q: I’m thinking of cancelling my membership. Who do I contact?
A: We’re sorry to hear that, Please contact the customer services team.
Q: Do you have lockers in your centres?
A: Yes, we provide lockers or baskets (Eastney) at all of our centres. Lockers operate with either padlocks or tokens. Tokens and padlocks are available to purchase from main reception or you can bring and use your own.

Q: Is it free to park at your centres?
A: Yes, if you are using the centre you can park for free for up to 3 hours. If you are any longer you will need to come into the centre to be issued a parking permit. Please note that Pyramids centre does not have a dedicated car park but a pay and display car park is located next to the centre. Customers parking at Queen’s Park must register their car numberplate on arrival to avoid parking charges.
Q: Do you have free wifi in your centres?
A: Yes, all of our larger centres provide free wifi for our customers to use. Smaller sites such as Eastney, Wimbledon Park and Charter do not have wifi.
Q: What are the opening times of the Gym?
A: Opening times vary from site to site. Please choose a centre to see opening times.
Q: What is Active for Life?
A: Active for Life is our rewards programme to encourage and reward participation – whether you’re a seasoned gym goer or new to gym, Active for Life is designed around an individual. We’ll start you off with a personal session to understand your goals and needs and get you started with a 30 minutes of free personal training. Attend 10 sessions and we’ll reward you with a one-hour personal training session. Read all about Active for Life.
Q: Do I have to have a gym induction?
A: Yes, a gym induction is necessary even if you are feel you are experienced or competent at using gym equipment.
Q: What age must a child be to swim alone?
A: 8 years old.
Q: Can I bring 3 children under 8 swimming alone?
A: At Littledown the ratio is 1 adult to 2 under 8yrs. At Pelhams and Corfe it’s 1 adult to 1 under 5yrs and 1 adult to 2 5-7yrs.
Q: Can I use fins, hand-paddles and snorkels in the pool?
A: Swim aids such as floats, pull buoys and swim gloves may be used in our pools. Fins, hand paddles and snorkels may only be used in an instructor-led or private hire session.
Q: How do I book classes?
A: Book on the phone, in the centre, or online bhliveactive.org.uk/class-booking
Q: Do we have a waiting list for classes?
A: Not currently, however, we are exploring ways to deliver this service to our customers.
Q: Can I move a Pay-As-You-Go class or have a refund?
A: The booking is non-refundable once booked but can be transferred up to 24 hours prior to the booked class.
Q: Can we book classes for other sites?
A: Yes, please use the online classes booking system.
Q: Can I eat my own food in the café?
A: We ask customers to refrain from consuming their own food in our cafés; however, we are more than happy to provide heating facilities for baby milk or pureed food.
Q: Can I breastfeed in your centres?
A: Yes, of course – if you would like a quiet space to feed your child then please ask a member of the team who will be happy to assist you.
